Blood Shortage Across UC

Less than a half day’s supply of type O blood remains across the Upper Cumberland after several recent traumas.

Blood Assurance reports a critical need for those with type O blood to donate. Less than two days’ supply remains for type A and B blood.

“O-negative is the universal blood type that can be given to anyone in need which is why it is always used in trauma situations,” Blood Assurance Medical Director Dr. Elizabeth Culler said. “It is imperative that we get O-negative donors in as soon as possible. We need our community’s help to replenish the supply that has been used and to ensure that we are prepared for more traumas in our community.”

Blood donors must be 17 years of age or older and in good health. You can make an appointment online at Blood Assurance Dot Org.
