Baxter Primary School Paint Mural On Gym

Baxter Primary School will paint a mural on the southern side of its gymnasium with funding from the PTO paint donations from Potter’s Ace Hardware.

The mural will depict the school’s name and honeybee mascot along with various shades of yellow, white, and black. Principal Marsha Wyatt said the mural will be a great addition to the school, helping to build up the community feel.

“The purpose is just to improve the aesthetics of the campus to make it more of an inviting, cheerful environment for our students and families and community,” Wyatt said.

Wyatt said the process is still in the very early stages of production, but that they hope to be finished within the next couple of months. She said there is much coordination of materials and labor to be done before the work can begin.

Wyatt said the school’s staff will be painting the mural themselves, but that they will also accept community volunteers if any should like to help. She said community involvement is very important to the school and, in fact, the design for the mural itself was created by the parent of a student.

“I just think it’s so important that we all come together as families in the community and I think that this will be a great thing to add to Baxter Primary School,” Wyatt said.

Wyatt said that above all else she wants to stress that the school is meant to be a safe space for all parents and kids and that everyone should feel welcome. She said that, though this project will be challenging, it will be worth it in the end.

“We will absolutely want to celebrate this project once it’s done with the people who volunteered and the people who donated materials and time to make it happen,” Wyatt said. “We’ll definitely celebrate that, along with some of our students, if not all of them.”
