Baxter officials met with contractors and Portobello officials to discuss Ditty Road’s planned closure starting Tuesday, June 20th.
Mayor John Martin said that the road will be closed as they extend water and sewer to Portobello’s new facility.
“We’re going to close Ditty Road to all local traffic,” Martin said. “But we’re going to leave it open to the large concrete trucks and other trucks to get to Portobello. That way they’re not traveling on the other roads and on the bypass.”
Martin said that they will have to bypass around to Academy Road coming back to Ditty Road. He said that it will eliminate heavy truck traffic on the other roads.
Martin said that they do not have an estimated timeline for the work. He said that the current contract with Rogers Group states the extension must be completed by November.
