Baxter could begin construction on its new amphitheater within the coming weeks.
Mayor John Martin said city officials will visit sites in North Carolina to see examples of how Baxter’s amphitheater will look like.
“We’ve already got our plan of what we want it to look like,” Martin said. “It’s really going to be a nice amphitheater. It’s a wood structure with concrete pads and we’re going to have some beautiful landscaping. They’re getting all the dimensions on the amphitheater in the Carolinas and when they come back, we’re ready to start it.”
Martin provided an update on the project during Baxter’s City Council meeting Thursday.
The amphitheater will be located at Baxter’s new Seminary Park, which began construction in May. The city received a $75,000 grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and Department of Tourism last year to construct the amphitheater.
