Baxter residents can expect to see some new homes erected at the Crossroads Subdivision within the next month.
City Building Inspector Bob Lane said water and sewer for the some 86 house subdivision nears completion, so paving should begin sometime this week.
“They’re going to build a model house first,” Lane said. “I talked to the developers and builder. They say they are going to build four at a time, and they hope to be able to build one and complete in 10 days.”
Lane said project supervisors with the builder D.R. Horton will live on site with work ongoing around the clock. Lane said the paving will include two entrances one on Highway 70 and State Route 56.
“They will be working practically around the clock,” Lane said. “The superintendents of those jobs will actually have RVs and live on the site.”
Lane said D.R Horton is one of the largest home builders in the world, so the time frame of completion should be soon after construction begins. Lane said the building schedule will be based on how many homes are purchased.
“He told me he had a list of approximately 40 people that were interested in looking,” Lane said. “And, I would think if the houses sell fairly fast, they will continue to build. They build about four, sell them and then build some more.”
Lane said paving and construction will not cause interruptions to the nearby intersection of State Route 56 and Highway 70.
