Barber shops and beauty salons owners say both they and their customers are looking forward to reopening on May 6.
Debbie Fletcher co-owns My Father’s Mustache in Cookeville.
“We are excited about the sixth being opening day,” Fletcher said. “We heard it from Ryan Williams, but we want to hear it from the governor since there’s been so much confusion. We’re hoping to start scheduling appointments soon.”
Cindy Hotalen owns Sparkle City Tanning Salon Boutique in Sparta. She said her customers were excited at the news.
“I’m glad,” Hotalen said. “All my customers have been texting me all day about coming the sixth.”
The state will announce further guidelines on the reopening later this week. Hotalen said she has been busy working to keep customers safe.
“We’ve been here cleaning the shop,” Hotalen said. “We’ve been disinfecting everything again just to make sure because we’ve been closed for a month now.”
Fletcher said her shop will be taking extra precautions as they begin to see customers.
“We have new sanitation practices, and we’ll all be wearing masks,” Fletcher said. “We will be doing the 10-person rule and doing appointments only. We have the masks. We are scheduling 15 extra minutes between clients to do a full sanitation.”
Despite the extra efforts, Hotalen and Fletcher echoed each other’s sentiment that they will be happy to be back in business.
“We’re ready to go,” Fletcher said.
