“Back to the Strip” makes its return to the McMinnville downtown scene this year.
The car show and cruise-in is an annual charity event that benefits Meals on Wheels. Event organizer Mary Lee Walker said the best part is the community coming together to give back.
“We have an amazing community and everyone pulls together to help us raise money for Meals on Wheels and it’s just so much fun to come out and watch. There’s lots of activities, music and vendors. It’s just a lot of fun for all ages,” said Walker.
The event, which started in 2012, has grown in popularity over the years. While Walker asks that you bring something to donate, you can expect to have a variety of things to enjoy.
“All kinds of classic cars and hot rods, all to today’s modern vehicles. There will also be food vendors setting up and down the sides of the road. We ask that people bring canned goods to donate to Meals on Wheels.”
Walker said it’s a tradition that spectators of every age can take part in.
“Riding a strip is a tradition that goes back many, many, many years in McMinnville and so at our event you will see all ages from brand-new to the elderly. They’ll line the side of the road to see the vehicles cruise the strip,” said Walker.
“Back to the Strip” returns on May 1st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tim’s Motors. Please bring canned goods to donate to Meals on Wheels.
