American Job Center Hosting Job Fair At Sparta Civic Center Wednesday

The American Job Center is partnering up with the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce for a job fair this Wednesday.

Local Veterans Informant Representative Janice Easterly said that the Job Center will host about three job fairs a quarter. She said that this Wednesday’s fair will be held at the Sparta Civic Center.

“We have over 30 employers that are waiting for you guys to come in and apply,” Easterly said. “There is no fee for an applicant, for the job-seekers. You guys just come on in, you’ll fill out a paper telling us who you are, and then we’ll give you a map showing you where everyone is and you can go and talk with them. They’ll be giving interviews on the spot, they’ll be hiring on the spot, some come dressed for success.”

Easterly said that in addition to having employers ready to accept applications and even interviews on the spot, job fair volunteers will be able to help with resume and interview prep.

“We can help you do a mock interview so we can ask you the questions so you’re prepared for ht interview when you get there,” Easterly said. “This is very important. Your resume is your face before you get through the door, so it’s important that you put your best face forward.”

Easterly said that this job fair isn’t just for one type of job-seeker.

“Anybody that wants to come out,” Easterly said. “If you’re unemployed, that’s great, I’m sure we’ve got something for you, if you’re under-employed, we’ve got something for you. Anybody who might be looking for a chance, anything like that.”

The Sparta Civic Center can be found at 524 E. Bockman Way. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
