Algood’s Keith Morrison Named District Four Director For State Municipal League

Algood City Manager Keith Morrison has been named the District 4 Director for the Tennessee Municipal League.

Morrison will represent this region–one of eight directors statewide.

The organization was founded by cities and towns to provide mutual assistance and improvements. Morrison said the league is made up of city mayors and city managers and administrators who work as representatives for 99 percent of Tennessee’s municipal citizens.

“It’s an honor to be elected and serve,” Morrison said. “And I think it’s good for our area that I can speak on behalf of other cities here and communicate with them and try to work all of our cities together.”

Morrison said his initial goal is to get acclimated to his new position and learn the ropes. As for the Tennessee Municipal League itself, a current goal is to address the state shared tax, where municipalities are not receiving 100 percent of the state sale tax.

Morrison said they hope to get the money back to cities to continue to improve the municipalities for residents.
