Algood is kicking off its Mingle Market this Saturday and every first Saturday throughout the year.
Roy Phipps with Algood Park and Recreation said there will be at least 30 vendors and food trucks in downtown Algood. Phipps said the event has already outgrown its original location.
“We actually had more interest and we had more vendors interested in participating in the event than we originally anticipated,” Phipps said. “We knew that starting this in city hall’s parking lot that we may have to expand that as we went forward. Well, it happened fast.”
Phipps said vendors had to be extended out to the Algood Community Center to meet the demand. Phipps said from 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM anyone is welcome to come down.
“This town, the close knit community, it’s not just something we say,” Phipps said. “It really blows your mind when you get out here and you talk to people. The love that people have for their own community and they want to share that with people and it’s really important to keep that small town feel.”
He said Algood will continue to try and tie-in other city events, like Saturday’s Easter drive-thru at the White Plains Historic Home.
“Throughout the year we’re going to have some events, like our Let Freedom Ring event, for instance,” Phipps said. “That will fall kind of on the same day as those markets.”
Phipps said it is completely free to attend, and even free for vendors. He said if anyone is interested in being a vendor they need to contact Algood City Hall for an application.
