Algood Police and the Putnam County Sheriffs Department ended a standoff with a man Tuesday after he entered a home on Patton Street.
Johnny Joe Threet entered the home with a long rifle and scope. Threet fired one round from the rifle, according to Algood Police. Deputies saw the man point the rifle under his chin on several occasions. He asked police to shoot him.
Crisis negotiators convinced Threet to throw the rifle out of the doorway and to exit the home.
Threet made bond earlier Tuesday on a domestic charge. The courts had placed an order of protection on the home and residents. Threet violated that order. He also arrived at the Patton Stret home with a stolen 4-wheeler.
Police charged Threet with Aggravated Burglary, Possession of a Firearm under Bond Conditions, Violation of his order of protection, and Possession of Stolen Property.
White Plains Academy was briefly locked down during the incident.
