City of Algood has begun work on extending sewer to Old Walton Road and surrounding areas.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said the project will include a new force main install from the new station at the back of Brookside to Dry Valley as well as a new gravity sewer line.
“Which was desperately needed and it’ll also take the capacity for the added-on lines,” Morrison said. “This was a part of a plan of services for the Old Walton Road area and Old Walton Circle and included Arbor Place and Oak Haven. Those were all plans of services for those subdivisions.”
Morrison said the work is set to take the better part of a year. He said residents in the area will likely face typically delays associated with construction.
Morrison said there will be crews in the road, and at some points will have one-lane traffic. He said once the sewer install is complete, they will also be able to complete a long-awaited paving project in that area.
