Deputies arrested an Algood man after a probation search revealed 100 pills of Xanax and a sawn-off shotgun Wednesday.
Putnam County authorities charged 24-year-old Franklin Hughes with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
While en route to Hughes’s residence, Hughes divulged to officials that he possessed 100 pills.
Authorities found seven bottles of anabolic steroids, 100 Xanax pills, and a set of digital scales. Hughes admitted that the pills may be laced with fentanyl.
Officials also located a sawn-off 410 shotgun hidden in the air return vent.
Hughes was previously convicted of felonies from the distribution of controlled substances.
Authorities booked Hughes into the Putnam County Jail on a $40,000 bond. Hughes has since posted bail. Hughes must appear in court on February 11.
