Algood’s Parks and Recreation Department unveiled an updated department page.
Director Roy Phipps said that with a page already in place for the city itself, the department wanted to utilize technology to have a place where information about happenings in the community can be shared with those invested in it.
“Parks are one of those things that everybody wants them,” Phipps said. “It’s all paid for with tax dollars and I think it’s important for taxpayers to be able to see where their money’s going. And a lot of people have different opinions on parks, and we’re trying to provide some nice facilities that they can be proud of.”
Phipps said the page will be home to event announcements, outdoor activities, and updates towards the work completed by the department.
“Because somebody may be interested in specifically about parks and events, and they’re not necessarily interested in other things,” Phipps said. “So this is a place they can go and get that information and we’re just going to try and make it a more interactive platform.”
Phipps said that in addition to an increased social media presence, they also hope to develop better communication for those who do use social media as a resource for their news. He said that as the site continues its development, he asks the community to bear with the team to continue their site’s work. He said that while the site is a new experience for the department, he looks forward to bringing information of events and happenings in Algood to the community.
