Algood Opens Fire Hall To Community, Displaying New Fire Truck

Algood opened its fire hall to the community Thursday afternoon to show off its new fire truck.

The fire hall was full of kids, families and officials from across the county to celebrate the official unveiling of a 2021 Pierce Enforcer Truck. The $638,000 truck arrived last month.

Fire Chief Victor Jones led the ceremony and said a day like this is about making the community feel protected.

“What makes these days special is that putting a truck in a town like this, a small town like this, lets the people know they are safe,” Jones said. “They can be safe, their homes will be safe and they have the equipment.”

Algood is now a two-truck fire family. The 2000 Pumper Engine will now be Engine 2. Jones said that machine had outlived its life as a primary engine.

Every member of the Algood Fire Department washed the new truck with the hose from the second truck. Jones said this dedication initiates the new truck as the primary fire engine to serve Algood.

Jones said the addition of the new truck will help the city lower its ISO rating.
