The City of Algood may have a new phone and internet service provider later this month.
City Administrator Keith Morrison said he’s asking city council members to switch from Frontier to Twin Lakes.
“We’re looking for a little bit faster internet service so we can be more successful with some of the systems we are trying to run,” Morrison said. “We are also looking to lower the bill and save some money, which we think we can accomplish by switching to Twin Lakes.”
Morrison said the city will save an estimated $360 a month by changing to Twin Lakes. If approved, Twin Lakes would provide services to city hall, the fire department, police department, public works and community center.
Morrison said internet speed was one of the reasons he looked at changing from Frontier.
“We’ve been with Frontier for several years,” Morrison said. “I think the problem is that Frontier doesn’t have enough internet speed to keep up with everything we’re doing.”
The City Council will consider Morrison’s requests during their April 9th meeting.
