Algood City Administrator Keith Morrison said the Green Mountain water project is on pace to be completed by the end of July.
Morrison said progress has moved quickly since the contract was approved in January of this year.
“They’re still installing line right now, so they’re getting all the line in the ground and getting it ready to go,” Morrison said. “They’ll have to go back and put the taps in, and they still have to put the pump station in at this point.”
Morrison said about 25 people will benefit from the higher water pressure. Morrison said the project would also allow for more residential development, but the city has not seen any plans thus far.
“We haven’t seen that,” Morrison said. “I know some of the home owners there have family members that are interested in building homes on land that they have, so that may come to fruition later on.”
Morrison said existing costumers should not be impacted by the project.
The city council awarded the work to Mofield Brothers Construction at a $387,800 bid in January. Putnam County Commission in October approved some of the county’s American Rescue Plan money to help offset costs.
Putnam County officials have been working with the city for a few years to provide public water.
