Algood Expects Delayed Completion of Fire Hall

The City of Algood expects a delayed completion date for the Fire Hall.

City Manager Keith Morrison said the poor winter weather could affect further construction.

Construction on the Algood Fire Hall is slated to finish in February.

“However paving may be affected by the weather, we do not anticipate that the Fire Hall will be complete by the end of December due to the weather delays,” Morrison said. “It’s probably going to be closer to February at this point.”

Although the weather can delay the paving process, other portions of construction will continue.

“The Fire Hall interior is progressing. They are mudding and putting up. Garage doors are in,” Morrison said. “They have poured concrete around the entrance doors that set thicker to protect from any trucks that are coming in and out. They are going to try to get a binder pavement down, they have set the pad for all of the driveways around the building.”

Morrison said the entrance to the rear will use a heavier grade pavement due to more truck traffic.

The Fire Hall project adds three double bays along with new training space. EMS will also have the ability to run a 24-hour ambulance service out of the facility.
