Algood City Hall Reopens Wednesday, Extends Drive Thru Services

Algood’s City Hall is set to reopen Wednesday with regular business hours after being closed for two weeks for COVID concerns.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said online bill paying and new window services have been added to reduce foot traffic in the building.

“We are doing conducting more business at the drive thru, which we would not normally do,” Morrison said. “If they have several pieces of paper work to fill out, we usually ask that they come in, and we are not requiring that at this time. We are trying to allow more options to keep everyone safe.”

Morrison said Algood added new sanitizing stations and deep cleaned the building during the closure. Only one city employee is currently in quarantine with no positive cases.

“We are also going to ask the people when they come into the building to wear a mask just for everybody’s safety,” Morrison said. “So that when they are coming into the building we are not putting anybody at risk.”

The Algood City Hall drive-thru and lobby will operate from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Bills can be paid online at algood-tn.com.

“We will always be open if they need anything. They can always call in if they have questions,” Morrison said. “We will be glad to answer those. One way or another, we will be here to provide the services our citizens need.”

All of the city’s council and committee meetings are still being held via zoom.
