A New Year means new goals, and if yours is fitness, Cookeville’s Cane Creek Recreation Center has affordable options for you.
Special Programs Coordinator Jen Webb said the cheapest option can be completed from the comfort of your home.
“Earlier in 2020 when things had to be done virtually, we recorded lots of exercise classes,” Webb said. “Those are still up on our YouTube channel. You can go in and take all of those classes as you like from home for free.”
Webb said new comers can also participate in person with a free first class. After that, each class only costs a few dollars. Webb said those looking for an entertaining exercise program should start with Zumba or Club Cardio.
“The people who have been with us the longest will definitely tell you that it becomes a habitat and something that they look forward to, because we keep it interesting,” Webb said. “We are always offering new stuff and changing the content.”
For outdoors people, utilize the public walkways of Cane Creek Park. Webb said for those looking for new habits, find one that fits your routine.
“Take some time and see what actually fits in with your lifestyle,” Webb said. “Don’t start trying to do what you think the stereotypical healthy things are. Look at what your lifestyle entails, and what would actually fit in easily.”
Webb said the best way to be successful is to start with small accomplishments like diet and hydration. Then, incorporate increments of exercise and work your way up.
