The McMinnville Dog Park has been opened for over six months and owners and dogs alike are enjoying the open space.
Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Justin Scott said usage during the winter was good, but the city is preparing for a busier spring.
“I got maintenance guys that are there checking on it five days a week, well six days a week,” Scott said. “That the trash cans are empty and that there’s not stuff being left out and just checking the fences and checking the gates making sure everything is proper.”
Scott said the only thing that could be improved is the size of the large dog park. Scott said that portion of the park has worn down some. Besides that, Scott said small and large dog are successfully separated through different enclosures, and rules are being followed.
“The big dog side seems like there is one or two dogs there a day if not more just having fun and playing,” Scott said. “The small dog side the same. We fell like it is a great thing for our community.”
