Cookeville Adds Projector To Auditorium Upgrade

Cookeville High will add a new projector to the list of improvements planned for its auditorium.

Deputy Director of Schools Tim Martin said bid documents have been completed and the district should start taking bids for the work in the next few weeks. Martin said the school will purchase the projector so it can be integrated alongside the rest of the new equipment in a planned upgrade to that facility.

“They asked if they could add that in at their own expense,” Martin said. “But we all thought it would be a good time so that we could get it so that it’s not just a freestanding projector. It’s going to be integrated into the system and it can be controlled from the control room and all that.”

Martin said the district will work with the high school to make sure the renovation does not interrupt any school performances or presentations. Martin said he still expects the the district to pay some $500,000 for the work but the exact costs and schedule will become clear once a bid is selected.

“I hope it’ll make it a lot better experience,” Martin said. “I hope it’ll make it so that the facility will be more usable and everything works better for whatever kind of program they’re having in the room.”

Martin said the projector was added at the request of the high school’s faculty. Martin said the change slowed down the design phase of the project but it was a positive adjustment overall.

“It takes a lot of coordination,” Martin said. “So we’re just, we’re still trying to plan all of that and get everything just right.”
