Clay County Focused On Opposing Bulldogs

The Clay County Bulldogs are coming off of their bye week and this Friday face off against Red Boiling Springs, a team that head coach Bruce Lamb said cannot be taken lightly.

The 5-2 Bulldogs are on a two game win streak and lost both of their games by three points. Lamb said his players have to be focused this week for a new and improved Red Boiling Springs team.

“In the film that I’ve watched, they’ve got some pretty good players and their scheme is really good,” Lamb said. “The coach has come in there with a new attitude and done good with those guys. And they seem to be playing hard for him, so it’s not the Red Boiling Springs of old.”

Red Boiling Springs has gone 2-5 this season and are in the midst of a four game skid, but Lamb said the film shows a better team than the record suggests. With this being a district match-up, Lamb said the intensity for these games is always cranked up and his players are ready.

“These guys, they know that whoever wins the region is going to have a chance to host every game in the playoffs until the state championship,” Lamb said. ” So, they know what is at stake and they know what we got to do.”

The Bulldogs from Celina are led by a core group of seniors that have been within the program since they were 9th graders. Lamb said he relies a lot on his seniors to set an example for the underclassmen.

He said the seniors on this team are aware that the clock is ticking on their football careers and have ramped up their energy.

“Once football is over after your senior year, you can’t go out and play a football game,” Lamb said. “You know, you can go play tennis, go play golf, go play basketball, bur you can’t play football. And so they know that its winding down and they need to take advantage of everything.”
