Next Week’s Trooper Car Show Fundraiser Moved

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has moved the October 19th car show fundraiser for Tennessee State Trooper Adam Cothron to the new Putnam County Expo Center Complex.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Cookeville District Billy Pierce said the event was moved due to expecting a larger crowd. Pierce said Cothron recently graduated from his first phase of therapy but still has a long road of therapy ahead.

“He is still working out of a wheelchair most of the time,” Pierce said. “The next phase hopefully will get him some more strength built into his legs and such. Maybe getting him on a walking machine as well, but he is still very positive. He is pushing through challenges and making progress.”

Pierce said he expects over 200 cars to be at the car show. Pierce said not only have car clubs helped out but other businesses and departments are chipping in to put on a great fundraiser.

“It’s very humbling and it’s not only car clubs,” Pierce said. “There have been many businesses here in Putnam County and other counties around also have contacted the FOP directly and have been very generous in their contributions.”

Pierce said even though Cothron is progressing the department is still concerned about him.

“Our department is solid,” Pierce said. “However all of us are still worried about Adam and his condition. We are a tight-knit family here at THP especially here in Cookeville. All of us individually are doing things to help Adam and his Family.”

Pierce said a Clay County business has donated a motorcycle for them to auction off at the fundraiser. Pierce said law enforcement will be engaging and talking with the public at the car show so the public can get to know them personally and stay on the same page. Pierce said when the public and law enforcement come together it is a partnership that is priceless.

All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to Adam Cotrhon’s family to help support them financially during his road to recovery. The fundraiser will begin at 9am on Saturday, October 19th.
