Wildcats Ready For Stone Rematch

The Livingston Academy Girls Soccer team won its first round game in the district tournament and now face Stone Memorial, a team that senior Taryn Childers said gave the Wildcats trouble in the regular season.

With 12 days separating their last regular season game and first post-season game, the Wildcats looked far from rusty in the 6-0 win over Cumberland County. Now the team faces Stone Memorial whose lone district loss came at the hands of the Wildcats.

“First time we played them this season, I think we started out slow and they definitely got onto us,” Childers said.”And I think that kind of got into our minds, so they kind of got into our minds in that aspect. But after that first half and into the second half, I think we just kind of just settled down and really connected with each other.”

Childers said she is scraping the bottom of the barrel to give this program all she has. Junior Katey Beason said she remembers the Panthers being defensively aggressive and noted some adjustments to their scheme.

“We just have to make sure that we’re smart about where we play the ball,” Beason said. “And that we’re quick to stay on our toes and not be flatfooted and let the ball pass through the gaps.”

It has been over a month since the Wildcats lost a game. Their last loss came on 9/3 and Beason said the team has improved drastically since then.

In their last eight games the Wildcats are averaging 7.1 goals a game and in that stretch have only conceded a single goal. Childers said there is a positive energy surrounding the team moving forward.

“I have a lot of confidence in us and in the coaches,” Childers said. “I think winning the game yesterday and just wining all these games throughout the season has just really pumped us up a lot. So, I think just going into the game tomorrow we’re going to have our heads held high.”
