Kayak Launch Dock Close To Completion

Monterey close to completing the new kayak launch dock at Meadow Creek Park.

Monterey Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said many citizens have already started using the dock. Cleary said they are in the final stages of the project.

“Really all that’s left is we are constructing some sidewalks to the actual kayak launch dock,” Cleary said. “So we poured the last of those sidewalks today and that will have to cure for just a little bit and then from there it’s just kind of some punch list items.”

Cleary said the construction of the dock has been flawless. Cleary said he expects the dock to be fully operational as September begins.

“That’s pretty exciting,” Cleary said. “It was a really good grant opportunity that the town was able to take part in and it obviously provided amenities that were really needed at Meadow Creek Park.

Cleary said the dock was part of a master plan the town implemented three years ago. Cleary said with the additions to the park, they have received positive feedback.

“As we have been making additions and doing our best to really make that master plan become a reality,” Cleary said. “Folks have been super impressed with that, so great feedback and we are just looking forward to checking this one off and then going on to the next project out there.”

The kayak launch dock is an ADA-approved launch dock to provide ways for those who have disabilities to use the dock. Cleary said that was a focus for Monterey.

“This is an all-inclusive dock system here,” Cleary said. “That was another key aspect of this. We wanted to make sure that everyone could use it and we have been able to accomplish that.”
