Roger Williams and Luke Hill elected to the Algood City Council Thursday night, with Hill winning his seat by one vote.
Hill defeated Ronald Graves. Hill said his main goal for his next term is to foster the success the city has seen in recent years. As for winning by one vote, Hill said every vote counts.
“It’s very surprising,” Hill said. “Shows that, you know, there’s four good candidates there just, you know, splitting the election. We kind of figured it would be close because they were all four good candidates, and it’s, so yeah, can’t get any closer than this.”
Hill said he has been on the council for six years and he wants to continue guiding the development that he sees in the city.
“We need to have smart growth up here and, you know, that’s really what drives me is stability and growing in a smart manner,” Hill said.
Roger Williams secured 36.07 percent of the vote Thursday. Tim McPherson finished fourth.
