Voter turnout was lower than anticipated across the Upper Cumberland Thursday.
White County’s Sales Tax Referendum failed with 52.8% of voters siding against the sales tax increase. That increase would have allowed the county to receive a larger portion of the sales tax revenue collected in Sparta.
Fentress County’s School Board sees Karen Bilbrey Cooper as the Board Member for District 1 with 55.45% of the votes over Nikki Voiles. Lee Little won the District 4 Board Member seat with 58.76% to defeat Melissa Branstetter. Bobbie Jo Kirby received 59.26% of the vote to defeat Richmond Smith for the seat of District 5 Board Member.
Angie Thompson was elected as Clay County Trustee with 78.11% of the votes. Angie Eads saw 99.7% of the vote to remain Assessor of Property in Clay County.
Mark Ashlock will represent District 1 on the Clay County School Board, with Ashlock getting 52.67% of the vote. Benjamin Bailey won the race for Clay County School Board District 4. Bailey received 53.8% of the votes in that race.
Tommy Frady was elected as Van Buren County Commissioner for District 3 with 60.5% of the vote over Rip Van Winkle.
Incumbent Kaleb Allen has been elected as the assessor of property for Jackson County, beating Glenda Mayberry with 57% of the vote.
