White County School System’s new fiscal year budget has a focus on updating teacher and staff salaries.
School Director Kurt Dronebarger said they have revamped the entire salary process for both teachers and staff. He said they have also proposed updating the salary schedules.
“We’re excited to not only offer raises but also longevity so our employees can look and see where they’re going to be in fives years, so we’re excited about that,” Dronebarger said. “All different levels for every job we have in our system. So that was our first priority.”
Dronebarger said the second priority of the budget process was prioritizing capital projects. He said they are looking to make some big strides in much-needed building projects. Dronebarger said that includes continuing work on the BonDeCroft addition.
Dronebarger said they also have plans for a new softball hitting facility to construct in front of the high school.
“So we’re excited about hat to reward those students for a job well done and much-deserved facility,” Dronebarger said. “We have a lot of other minor but needed improvements such as bathroom improvements at several schools, walkway improvements, awnings, things that before TISA we maybe didn’t have the opportunity to do.”
Dronebarger said they feel solid about where the system’s budget and finances are at this point. He said the budget will now go before the White County Commission to get the next step of approval.
