Clay County hoping the city of Celina will come up with a permanent solution for the city’s ambulance coverage.
The ambulance staff resigning Monday has left the community with emergency medical responders. County Mayor Dale Reagan said the county has contracted the ambulance service through the city for the last 12 or 15 years.
“They’ve provided a good service for us but evidently there’ve been some difficulties and we’re very concerned, we’re always concerned,” Reagan said. “But we are under contract to provide emergency medical services to the citizens not only in the city but in the county.”
Reagan said in the meantime, the state has said it will step up to provide units for EMS coverage. However, Reagan said that is just a temporary fix.
Reagan said as of right now, this is what they are able to do. He said they hope a more permanent agreement can be met so as not to jeopardize the services for both city and county residents.
“We’re praying and hoping the city will come up with a solution to this matter,” Reagan said.
