Overton Taking Applications For New Veterans Service Officer

Overton County searching for a new Veteran Service Officer after Chris Barlow has decided to resign from the position.

Barlow said applications for his replacement will be accepted until March 31st at the county executive office.

Barlow said he made the decision to leave based on the needs of his family. He will serve as the service officer until a replacement is approved by the county commission. Barlow has served in the position since 2017.

Barlow said good candidates must be honorably discharged veterans willing to listen to family needs. Barlow said healthcare, disability benefits and pensions are the main areas the position works on.

According to Barlow, there are more than 1,200 veterans that reside in Overton County.
