Fentress County Clerk’s Office set to offer new services to citizens through an automated kiosk.
County Clerk Amanda Hicks said the kiosk provides automated services such as license renewals, address changes, and gun permit renewals. She said she hopes this will serve as a convenience both for her office and for residents.
“Any time that there’s a gap in services I feel like as a public servant it’s our duty to fill those gaps to provide services for our citizens,” Hicks said. “So to me, that was why it was important.”
Hicks said the kiosk also comes at no cost to the county. She said once the county courthouse gets electrical upgrades to accommodate the kiosk, they will notify the state which will then install it. Hicks said they hope to get it up and running by March.
Hicks said the kiosk will not change the services already offered at the Clerk’s Office and business will continue as usual.
“It’s a fully-automated self-service, of course, the ladies here in the office will be happy to help with anything if there’s any issues with the kiosk,” Hicks said. ” (…) And the good thing about this is you can also pay your full reinstatement fees and have a re-issuance of your driving privileges from the kiosk. So there’s lots of great things that you can do. The main thing that you have to keep in mind is that you already have to have a Tennessee license, I.D., or handgun permit to use the kiosk. So hopefully, these services will keep our citizens from having to drive out of town.”
