Obituaries For Monday, January 30
Beverly Diane McCann Jared,55 of Baxter died Saturday, January 28, 2023 at her home. She was born September 26, 1967 in Knoxville to the late Craig and Jane Sayne Spurling. Beverly worked as a custodian at Tennessee Tech University until her health declined. She enjoyed her pet cats, doing arts and crafts and cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jamison Jared. Survivors include daughter, Sabrina McCann; son, Jackie Dunston both of Cookeville; significant other, William Carlos Rittenberry of Baxter; brother, Ron Spurling of Knoxville. Her wishes of cremation are being honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Dwight “David” Quilter, 46 of Baxter, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, surrounded by family. Born Tuesday, May 18, 1976 in Augusta, Georgia, he was the son of Larry and Janet Conatser. David is remembered for being a jokester and a prankester. He often told others that they “dropped their pocket.” He was super loving and friendly and was the kind of person that never knew a stranger. He continuously gave all that he had to others and was always up for praying with others. He loved connecting with others and was very chatty. When he was younger, David was an avid beatboxer and singer. He loved food! At Erlanger Hospital he was awarded the nickname “Bread Man.” Some of his favorite foods were oatmeal pies, sweet potatoes, bologna sandwiches, pizza, and chocolate milkshakes. He is survived by parents: Larry and Janet Conatser of Algood; siblings: Jo (Paul) Bumbalough, Jannette Phy, Kenneth “Bubba” Quilter Jr, all of Cookeville. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends. David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Rosa Hill; paternal grandparents, the Quilters; and a sister, Amanda Conatser. The family has chosen cremation for David and will have a private celebration at a later date.
Funeral services for Dr. William Timothy Adams, 67, of Baxter, will be Tuesday, January 31 at 10 AM at Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Cookeville. Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery in the Boma Community of Putnam County. Dr Kevin Shearer and Rev. Mark Gaw will officiate at the service with Bro. Steven Thornton officiating at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Tim was born in Laredo, Texas, in 1955. In 1961, Tim’s parents moved to Tennessee where he was raised on a farm in the Poplar Grove community of Putnam County. After graduating from Putnam County Senior High School, he attended Tennessee Technological University and then attended Southwest Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he received his Masters of Divinity. While at Tennessee Tech, he met and married Faith Brown of Baxter TN. Faith and Tim celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on December 30th in the log home that he built with the help of his father. Tim and Faith are the proud parents of 3 children – Paul Adams of Sparta, TN; Joanna (Daniel) Meadows of Baxter TN; and Mark (Morgan) Adams of Hurricane, West Virginia and 3 grandchildren; Caitlyn Adams, Cole Meadows and Eden Faith Meadows. Brother Tim was preacher of the Gospel for 38 years and pastored many churches over the years including Saylor Park Baptist Mission in Cincinnati, OH; Island Creek Baptist Church in Manchester, KY; Cumberland Baptist Church in Cumberland, KY; Union Hill Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN; Rayon City Baptist Church, Old Hickory, TN; Wilhite Baptist and Alethia Baptist Fellowship in Cookeville, TN. At the time of his death, Tim was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist, Cookeville. The family will receive friends at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 PM and after 9 AM Tuesday at the church until service time.
Funeral Service for Kathy Ann (Tays) Vaughn, age 56 of Baxter, will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Tosh officiating. Interment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. She passed from this life on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Kathy was born Saturday, July 16, 1966, in Cookeville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Lewis “Horace” Edward Tayes and the late Vivian Lee (Long) Tays. Kathy was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, MiMi, aunt, and friend. Kathy was the matriarch of the family and was always putting others’ needs before herself. She loved taking pictures, was always smiling regardless of the circumstances, and when she was around, her light was always shining bright. Kathy was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed. Kathy is survived by, Husband, Chris Vaughn; Son, Joshua Anderson and his wife, Cassandra; 3 Grandchildren, Dexter, August, and Parker Anderson; 3 Siblings, Kenny Tays and his wife, Susan, Kevin Tayes and his wife, Joyce, and Ginny Tayes; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, her work family, and special friends. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again, February 1, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crest Lawn Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bobbie Jean Goodpasture, age 89, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Robertson will officiate. Burial to follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Bobbie passed peacefully from this life on Monday morning, January 30, 2023, from the Livingston Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Bobbie Jean McCormick Sullivan Goodpasture was born in Livingston on September 1, 1933, into hard times along with a large family including 8 aunts and uncles to Lee McCormick and 10 aunts and uncles of Myrtle Brown McCormick. The oldest of 3 children including sister, Anna McCormick and brother, Edward Lee McCormick. Bobbie leaves behind her daughter, Diann Sullivan Evans and husband Jim of Livingston; as well as her brother, Edward Lee McCormick and wife JoAnn of Huntsville, AL. and sister-in-law, Shirley McCormick of Huntsville, AL. In addition to her parents Bobbie was preceded in death by her first husband Grady Paul Sullivan in 1961, and her second husband Clyde Martin Goodpasture in 1982. and one sister, Anna McCormick in 1993. The family will welcome friends on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service. Funeral services for Daniel N. Lynch, age 95 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday February 2 in the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. He passed away Friday January 27, 2023 at NHC of Sparta. His family will receive friends Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time.
A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Jimmy Curtis Tollett, age 68 of Cookeville, will be held, Friday, February 3, at 5:00 p.m., in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Tollett passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Alive Hospice in Nashville. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Charlene (Finch) Tollett; five children, David (Brandy) Tollet, Christopher (Stephanie) Tollett, Jesse (Corrine) Tollet, Marcie (James) Parsons, and Rhoda (Allan) Murphy. Visitation will be held Friday, February 3, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
