Algood Planning To Consider Final Site Plan At Next Meeting

Algood Planning Commission will consider a final site plan for a property located on Industrial Circle at its next meeting.

That after deciding to postpone action on the item because the city engineer had not yet approved the stormwater mitigation plans. Staff Planner Tommy Lee said it’s important to have the engineer’s approval to ensure stormwater mitigation will be done properly.

“To keep the water from running off onto your neighbors and causing damage to the property,” Lee said. “We want to make sure that water ends up in a ditch so it can properly drain.”

Lee said the almost 5,000-square-foot property will house both office and warehouse space. In the owner’s site plan review, Wayne Harper said the building will be used for the distribution of caskets and other funeral materials.

The commission also tabled action on changes to the transportation plan section of the Algood Land Use Plan. The suggested changes would include changing some street classifications of streets from minor collector streets to major collector streets. Commissioners decided to wait to formally adopt changes until it could get updated traffic pattern numbers from the T-DOT.

In other business, the commission elected its officer. Marshal Judd will continue to serve as chair with Buck Fowler as his vice chair, filling that vacancy. Ruby Hawkins was voted to continue to serve as secretary.
