Putnam County Commissioner Dale Moss said he is working on finding a more centralized voting precinct to add to the ninth District.
Moss said constituents told him they wanted a more convenient location rather than traveling outside of the district to vote at Upperman Middle School.
“They have contacted me, they being several looking for something more convenient and something in their own district where they can do their voting and not take so long and not such a long drive for the elderly people,” Moss said.
Moss said he asked the county commission for some ideas and Commissioner Chris Cassetty indicated that Double Springs Church of Christ could be a potential location to explore. Moss said he is awaiting feedback from church leaders before moving forward.
“He thought that would be a workable situation,” Moss said. “They have handicap capability and plenty of parking and plenty of room that we might be able to make it work. That’s where we are at at this point.”
Moss said he plans to pursue the establishment of a new precinct in the future. Moss said the Putnam County Election Commission will also need to be involved.
