Putnam Schools Starting Next Three-Year Calendar Planning Process

Putnam County Schools beginning the process of creating its next three-year school calendar.

Calendar Committee Co-Chair Hannah Davis said that a committee is formed to take into account holidays, breaks, and anything else that could affect school days.

“The committee’s job is really to do the research and look over the calendar and make those recommendations to the school board,” Davis said. “Saying this is what we think works for the next three years. Of course, there’s a process to get to that point of recommendation.”

Davis said that the committee is made up of community members and school system members submitted by school board members. She said that by having parents, teachers, and central office employees, they can have different perspectives during the creation of the calendar.

Davis said that the newly-appointed committee will meet a few times a month over the summer. She said that the end result will be a three-year calendar beginning with the 23-24 school year to recommend for approval by the school board.
