White BOE Opens Evaluations On Director Of Schools

The White County School Board has started the evaluation process of Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger.

School Board Chair Jayson McDonald said the purpose is to set goals for the director to achieve while also reviewing performance.

“His salary comes up, his contract ends June 31st,” McDonald said. “We do it in April to the evaluation and then we talk about it in May and get it approved. That way we have time if there needs to be changes to his salary or contract.”

McDonald said the online form has been distributed to members to be completed by the May meeting. It includes 54 questions that are answered through a 1-4 score. McDonald said anything below a two requires a unanimous comment for the director to see.

“Whether it be graduation rate at the high school or testing scores throughout the elementary schools, that just gives him something to work on,” McDonald said. “Gives him opportunities to grow in his profession.”

McDonald said he believes the school system has a good director in Dronebarger to lead them in the future. “It gives him opportunities to grow and we do that every year,” McDonald said.
