Sparta has discontinued paving for the calendar year leaving Crag Rock Village and the trails of South Carter Park.
City Administrator Brad Hennessee said the projects will restart in the spring.
“They’re going to hold the price that we have now for the paving, so it shouldn’t hurt us from a financial standpoint, and it should be a better quality job if we wait until the weather is consistently warm,” Hennessee said.
Hennessee said this paving is a part of Sparta’s second phase of its long-term paving plan. Hennessee said over the next month, he will work on identifying the paving projects for 2022.
“We’ll look at what our water and sewer high priority needs are for the upcoming year, and we’ll determine what those are as well as the paving,” Hennessee said. “We should have that information by the end of January and that would be phase one of 2022 paving. They already got the walking trail and Crag Rock Village on their radar, so they’ll start on that independently.”
During the past year, Sparta has repaved four city road as well as repaired sewer and water lines under the roads.
