Celina Mayor Prepares Drawings To Gauge Interest For New Park

Celina Mayor Luke Collins has shared tentative drawings of a proposed park at the old high school gym property.

Collins said his plans have a small splash pad as well as the largest small mouth bass statue in the world.

“We’ve been in contact with the folks of the Guinness World Records and been on the internet searching for the largest,” Collins said. “We’ve talked to some companies that can build it for us, so we are hoping to do that.”

Collins said he has presented the plans to the county commission. Collins said he did not request funding but told members there would be a time in the future when he comes back with a dollar amount.

Collins said he thinks the initial presentation went well. Collins said the small splash pad is separate from the splash pad he is pursuing at Donaldson Park.

The land for the proposed park is currently owned by the Clay County School System. Collins said he is working towards a partnership between the city, county and schools to develop the land.
