Cumberland River Hospital Owner Done Spending On Facility, Exploring Other Options

Cumberland River Hospital Owner Johnny Presley said he will not invest any more money into the hospital facility.

Florida-based healthcare company Braden Health visited the facility last week. The company said some $5 million worth of improvements are needed to meet standards.

“I’m looking potentially at a hospice house, and then I also have two other potential interests in doing other things there,” Presley said. “I don’t think the county is serious about stepping up and reopening a facility.”

The town of Celina has been looking to find ways to reopen the hospital, but Presley said he thinks the support is not there to make it happen.

“That’s just not going to happen,” Presley said. “There are other things on their (the county’s) agenda, which obviously I understand they have to build a new jail and things of this nature. If the elected citizens of that county are not willing to step up and invest in healthcare, then that county will continue to struggle.”

Presley said his plan moving forward is to act as a businessman and keep finances as his best interest. Presley said the asking price remains at $1.5 million. Presley said the $5 million of improvements is a high-end evaluation.
