The Jackson County Soil Conservation District is looking for a new employee to fill its Conservation Technician position.
Office Manager Pamela Flatt said that they are looking for a cheerful, hardworking employee with ideally an agricultural background.
“Familiar with agriculture, farming, especially someone with an agricultural degree would be really helpful,” Flatt said. “Someone who is mechanically inclined and can work on farm equipment, lime spreaders and no-till drills.”
Flatt said the employee should expect some strenuous work, including field checks and uneven terrain. She said that along with agriculture experience, this is a good position for an employee looking to get their foot in the door with a position in federal government.
Applicants have until Wednesday, August 4th to send in their applications.
Flatt said that those who apply will be considered Jackson County employees, and also work with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, which as federal agency, as well as the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
Flatt said positions start at $30,000 a year and include benefits such as vacation days and sick days.
