Livingston City Court is moving to the Overton County Justice Center, effective immediately.
Livingston Board of Aldermen voted to enter an agreement with Overton County to host Livingston’s court. Mayor Curtis Hayes said city court will be held one night a month on every third Thursday.
“We looked at city hall and it just wasn’t secure enough,” Hayes said. “We could do it if we had to but at the end of the day it just wasn’t secure. With the money that people put in that deposit box and things of that nature, we just felt more comfortable to have court at the justice center.”
Hayes said that this agreement with the county will come at no cost to Livingston. Hayes said the move is related to a state determination about entering and leaving the public safety building.
