Donnie Ray Mabe, 59, of Sparta, TN passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, in McMinnville, TN. Mr. Mabe was born on January 3, 1962, in Sparta, TN to the late Henry and Maudie Whittaker Mabe. He was an over the road trucker, plumber, and all-around handyman. Memorial services will be held at later date.
Gary Stockton, age 65 of Baxter, died Monday June 7th at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Maxwell, 91 of Baxter, will be held Thursday, June 10 at 10:00 AM in the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. TJ Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Samuel Maxwell Cemetery. Mrs. Maxwell died Sunday, June 6 in Morningside of Cookeville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5-8 PM and again Thursday 9 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Earl Crabtree, 86, of the Center Grove community of Jackson County, will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 2 P.M. at Anderson Upper Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Union Hill – Flatt Cemetery on Shepardsville Road in Jackson County. He passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at his residence. He was born July 10, 1934, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Willis Domer Crabtree and Louevie Hammock Crabtree. On June 8, 1956, he was married to Nellie Crabtree, who survives. He was a machinist, and a member of the Center Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include his Wife: Nellie Crabtree of Bloomington Springs, TN; 1 Son: Robert (Donna) Crabtree of Cookeville, TN; 1 Daughter: Vicky Pigg of Cookeville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 A.M. – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 11 A.M. until time of services. Bro. Chris Mabery will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society by contacting the funeral home.
Funeral Services for Mr. Richard Glenn Ruble, age 59, of Indianapolis, Indiana will be conducted 3 p.m., Thursday, June 10, 2021 from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Bro. John Keith will officiate. Burial to follow in the Stover Cemetery. The family will welcome friends on Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of services at Speck Funeral Home. Richard passed from this life after a brief illness, from the comfort of his home on Saturday evening, June 5, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 14, 1961 to the late Glenn Ewell and Lola Vivian Stover Ruble. A 1979 graduate of Indianapolis, IN and a member of the Valley Mills Christian Church. Rick was a real estate agent for many years. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and loved his family unconditionally. Riding motorcycles and making music with his friends was his passion. Rick was a friend to everyone and also enjoyed fixing things and helping people. Rick leaves behind his wife, Cheryl Hasselburg Ruble; son, Ricky Ruble; daughter, Lila Herring and husband Derek.
Funeral Services for Mr. Terry Borden, age 64 of Allons, will be conducted 10 AM Friday, June 11th from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery. Terry passed from this life on Monday evening, June 6, 2021, from St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was born in Gainesboro on December 1, 1956, to the late Edd and Olyne Langford Borden. Terry loved spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, listening to classic rock music, and farming. Terry leaves behind his wife Joan Borden of Allons; daughter Andrea Hutchison and husband Jamie of Allons; son Adam Borden and wife Abby of Jonesborough, TN. The family will welcome friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 PM.
Memorial Services for Norma Faye Holman, 82 of Sparta, will be held at 1PM on Friday, June 11 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Larry Plemons officiating, burial will follow at Old Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Norman passed away on Thursday, June 3 at Cookeville Regional. Norma devoted her life to her family and business Sparta Grill. Her parents opened “The Grill” in 1954. She took over The Grill when her parents retired. Her and husband, Ray Holman, owned and operated Sparta Grill and Holman’s Taxi and Stone’s Recreation for over 50 years. Norma leaves behind a legacy of hard work and her love for her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Beth Thompson and Debbie Lynn (Bryan) Peek, both of Sparta. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 11 AM till the time of service.
Funeral services for Mark Randall Wilson, age 59 of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday June 11 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson passed away suddenly on Sunday June 6, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Mark was a Desert Storm veteran having served in the US Army. He later served with TN National Guard. He was employed at Stover’s Liquidation in Cookeville. Mark enjoyed sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a jokester and always the loudest person in the room. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Theresa Merriman Jones; sons, Mark (Heather) Wilson of Christiana, TN, Robert Wilson of Murfreesboro, Justin (Carissa) Jones of Cookeville; daughters, Crystal (Daryl) Spada on McMinnville, Bethany Wilson of Lavergne, TN, Heather (Scott) Blanton of Sparta, and Megan (Brandon) Williams of Cookeville. Mark’s family will receive friends Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again Friday from 12 noon until service time.
Funeral services for Alice (Fay) Howard Oliverson (Jones) of Cedar Hills, Utah, formerly of Cookeville, will be conducted on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Sand Springs Memorial Gardens in Monterey. Fay died suddenly at the American Fork Utah Intermountain Healthcare Hospital. She was born January 24, 1947, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to the late Lawrence Howard and Linnie Ruth Farley Howard Vanderpool Hall. Fay was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. She attended the Cedar Hills 11th Ward. Fay married Gorden Oliverson on May 26, 1967, in the Provo, Utah Temple. Ten years after Gorden’s death, she married William Jones on June 17, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fay and Gorden had three children, Wendy and twins, Gorden and Lawrence. Fay attended Brigham Young University from 1965-1966. She received her relator’s license and began selling real estate in 1976. She worked for the American Way Real Estate Company in Cookeville, Tennessee, Osmond Realty in Orem Utah and most recently UR Home Real Estate in Orem, Utah. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, 2021, From 1:00 PM until time of services at 2:00 PM.

Iva passed peacefully from this earth on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Signature Healthcare, Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville, AL. She was surrounded by her children. She is survived by her children, Aldon Shelton (Johanna) and April Shelton (Andrew Schnell) of Huntsville, AL; and David L. Shelton (Jennifer) of Bloomington Springs; her ex-husband and special friend, Eldon Shelton of Cookeville. grandchildren, Darya Kline (Hunter), John-Riley Shelton & Hollie Shelton of Tennessee and Alanna Shelton of Alabama; sisters, Shelby Jean Fillers of Chuckey and Darlene Baskette (Richard) of Limestone. Special nieces and nephews Debbie Andes (Roger), Dewayne Stanton, Ryan Baskette, Kim Johnston Williams (Bob) and Bryan Johnston (Rena). Former brother-in-law, Charles Johnston. In addition, she is survived by her special aunt Trula Gahagan (Spartanburg, SC) and several wonderful cousins, and other family members. Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Carl Edward Bull, age 65, of Murfreesboro, and formerly of Livingston, will be conducted Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 1 until 3 p.m. from the Standing Stone State Park, shelter number 3., please come and join the family to celebrate the life of Carl. Private family services will be held at the New Hope Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. Carl passed from this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from the Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro. He was born in Gainesboro, Tennessee on June 12, 1955 to the late Noah and Lovie Jean Burks Bull. Carl enjoyed collecting glass and antiques and going to car shows. He loved his family dearly and was a member of the Church of God. Carl leaves behind his daughter, Carla Lamb and husband Joe of Sparta, TN; son, Chantry Bull and wife Christina of Clarksville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marion Louise Shepard, age 94 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, June 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Shepard died Friday June 4, 2021 at her residence. She and her late husband moved to Cookeville in 1980 and have been members of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Marion was a talented photographer. She enjoyed regular visits to the YMCA. She enjoyed geology and was a member of the Tennessee Gem and Mineral Society. She was thoughtful caring and a woman of peace. Mrs. Shepard is survived by her children, Steven Shepard of Racine, Wisconsin, and Jan Scott. Her family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Christian Smith and Katherine Hall officiating at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville TN. He passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021. David was born Tuesday, April 14, 1936, Rushford, New York, to the late Paul Harold James and Mary Luckey. David was a truck driver and worked many years over the road. Survived by: Wife – Ethel P. James, Cookeville; Daughter – Denise J. Newberry; Son – Donald E. James. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to the time of services.

He is survived by Wife of 60 years, Joyce Allen of Sparta; and children, Angela Conatser (Ricky), Tracy Newberry (Bill), and Jason Allen (Wendy). The family will receive friends on Monday from 11 AM until the time of service at the church.
