Carjacking Arrest Made In Monterey, Two Vehicles Stolen

A carjacking suspect made his way to Monterey in two stolen vehicles before being arrested Tuesday.

Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris said the suspect Noah Hill wrecked a Kentucky stolen vehicle before hijacking a vehicle and forcing a woman to drive him to the McGugins Shell in Monterey. Farris said this is an example to always be cautious of someone trying to stop you for help on roadways.

“It’s certainly okay to help someone but more often than not it’s much better just to go ahead and call the local authorities in the area,” Farris said. “Call Tennessee Highway Patrol, dial that on the phone or wherever you’re at dial 911.”

Farris said the suspect fled on foot before he was arrested near South Chestnut Street. He said Hill faces charges of carjacking, hit and run, stolen vehicle charges and likely more to come.

The suspect has been transported back to Cumberland County and the carjacking victim is not believed to have been injured.

“He hijacked and carjacked another vehicle with a female inside and made her drive him to the Monterey Exit 301,” Farris said. “And dropped him off at the McGugins Shell Station at the 301 in Monterey.”

Farris said this was put on the Sheriff’s Department and Monterey PD’s radar when a Be On The Lookout or BOLO alert went out. He said the suspect fled on foot when Monterey Police were closing in on his location.

“Putnam County Deputies arrived a short time later, as well as Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers,” Farris said. “A short time later the subject was apprehended and arrested near South Chestnut Street in Monterey.”

Farris said Hill will be officially charged in Cumberland County since that is where a majority of the crimes were committed. Farris said that when someone sees a person trying to get people to pull over on the side of the road, it is important to note the location or mile marker to provide to authorities.
