Putnam Schools Providing New Workforce Training Opportunities

The Putnam County School System has taken a step forward in securing partners to expand career and technical education opportunities.

Director of Schools Corby King said the system has been trying for a long time to get internship partners for advanced manufacturing. King said they had not been able to make any headway with local manufacturers until now.

“We now have at least two businesses that have agreed to allow us to partner with them for internships,” King said. “Both ATC and Aphena are looking at providing internships for our students. So this is huge.”

King said that Monterey High School will be part of a CTE program transition. King said that with the home building instructor resigning, the new program will be for HVAC, plumbing and electric training.

He said this is possible thanks to a partnership with TCAT.
