Two circuit outages in Cookeville led to about 4,000 electric customers losing power early Sunday morning.
Cookeville Electric Director Carl Haney said the circuit outages took away power in the South Willow Avenue and East Spring Street areas. Haney said his crews started working on isolated outages in the city just after Midnight.
“I’m not for sure which kind of trees it was at the time,” Haney said. “I just know we had a lot of limbs. Those sort of wreak havoc on our taps that run through some of the residential areas and such. That’s usually what causes those.”
Haney said the South Willow Avenue circuit went out at 1:45 AM and East Spring Street went out at 3:30 AM.
“Mainly up and down South Willow, the Lone Oak area and anything that’s off of Willow Avenue.” Haney said. “The second one that happened around 3:30 AM. That was out East Spring Street, sort of out toward the Highway-111 area.”
Haney said those areas got power back on Sunday Night. He said each of the two circuits that went out serve out 2,000 customers.
