Airport Board Approves Raises For Employees

Employees at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport will receive raises based on evaluations.

Airport Manager Dean Selby said the raises range from three to four percent based on evaluation. Selby said the raises were budgeted in the new fiscal year numbers with a total price tag of around $3,000.

“I think it’s a fair evaluation, we sat down and talked about everything and I think it’s reasonable given the current situation,” Selby said. “And the fact we’ve been moving a lot more fuel. They’ve been very active. They’ve been doing a really good job and I really appreciate them. I think we need to take care of them.”

Most of the employees are part time. The Airport Board approved the raises unanimously Tuesday night.

The board approved a plan to upgrade the conference room in hanger two by beginning a bid process. Selby called it a “refreshing” of the space which local groups use six to eight times per month for meetings. Selby said he wanted to upgrade flooring and furniture in the space. The room will also be painted.

“We rent that room out, we do a lot of things with that room, a lot of different groups use it,” Selby said. “Set out a good vision for the airport.”

Selby said he wanted to work on the room as the winter arrives. He estimated a total cost of between $4,000 and $6,000.
