The town of Byrdstown will replace water lines for the Eagle Cove and Star Point areas.
Byrdstown Mayor Sam Gibson said about 800 homes will benefit from the increased water capacity and pressure.
“That is where we usually have the most influx in new home owners and meter being added to our line,” Gibson said. “We have a lot of renters there, and around holidays, we have a lot of people that is there.”
A $590,000 Community Development Block Grant will pay for the line replacements. The town will announce a bid winner for the project this Friday.
“I am and the council are all committed to solving this problem,” Gibson said. “We do not like having people on our water lines and continually being out of water. If this project does not fix it, we will apply for another CDBG grant.”
Gibson said the water problems have been more of an issue this year.
“We have a four inch line in that area and have to increase volume,” Gibson said. “Hopefully, if we get another grant, we will work more on Star Point.”
