The City of Jamestown will look to appoint a new fire chief next month.
Mayor Lyndon Baines said Hollis Crabtree has retired from that position.
“I have the utmost respect for Mr. Crabtree. He’s been doing a great job for that department for all these years,” Baines said. “It’s going to be hard for someone to take his place. It will take a little bit of time to figure out who we’re going to put in there.”
The Jamestown City Council held off on making an appointment during this month’s meeting. Baines said the city and county usually work together when selecting a new chief.
“The county is supposed to meet this week, and then they’ll bring it to us next month to decide if we want the same person or not,” Baines said. “Usually it goes the same way with that. Usually we pick the same person.”
Baines said the Jamestown Fire Chief also serves as the County Fire Chief.
