A Monday evening fire damaged a home in Baxter.
Baxter Fire Department officials said the blaze started in a garage adjacent to a home on Dyer Ridge Road. Chief Matthew White said the flames eventually extended to the home, causing damage to one side of the dwelling. The garage was a total loss.
No one suffered injuries during the incident. Crews managed to get the pet dog out of the home and brought to safety.
White said the residents will stay with friends until repairs can be made to the damaged portion of the house.
Firemen battled the blaze for about three hours. The Putnam County Fire Department responded to provide water for the firefighting efforts.
A cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
